The last few years have been pivotal for the field of education. Research indicates that the Covid-19 pandemic had a substantial impact on K–12 student learning, resulting in an average lag of four months in both mathematics and reading by the end of the school year. Furthermore, the pandemic exacerbated pre existing opportunity, achievement gaps, and underscoring the significance of regular school attendance. Beyond academics, it also took a toll on the overall health and well-being of students, causing heightened concerns among schools for the welfare of their students.

Student school attendance is of vital importance as it provides a foundation for effective learning and student development. Consistent attendance not only safeguards that students have access to educational resources, instruction, and social growth, but also fosters fundamental life skills such as time management and accountability. Regular attendance is an effective predictor of academic achievement, allowing students to understand complex concepts, engage in profound classroom discussions, and build lasting relationships with teachers and peers. Moreover, it prepares students for life in the future, responsibilities in society where punctuality and reliability are extremely valued, highlighting the essential role that school attendance plays in shaping students' academic and professional paths.
