Self-Care; Self-Growth; Self-Love

Dr. Sergio Caceres Cahn Fellow 2021

The Pandemic not only impacted the academic learning of millions of students around the world but also the social-emotional wellness of teachers, staff, and students. To improve our school climate, we developed a wellness program from teachers and staff called Self-Care Mondays. During this time, teachers and staff engaged in many self-care activities. We conducted a school climate survey to understand how we can improve it. The data showed areas of improvement and areas where the school climate is adequate. We learned that there is a direct correlation between the impact of Covid-19 and the quality of school climate.

“The heart and soul of school culture is what people believe, the assumptions they make about how school works.” — Thomas J. Sergiovanni
