Building a School Partnership through Parental Support for Student Success

Kevin Williams Cahn Fellow 2020

Our project seeks to focus on how building a school partnership through parental support fosters student success. Student success, as defined in this project, encompasses academic achievement and the social and emotional well-being of the child. This project focuses on the following question: How can we improve the success of our students with parental support while building a school partnership? We have long known that students’ academic achievement is often measured by progress report grades and standardized test performance, which depends on several school factors, such as highly effective instruction, a safe learning environment, and dedicated and caring teachers. However, equally important are out-of-school influences, such as parental involvement that supports student learning and academic achievement. We will explore this in our inquiry process to incorporate our Cahn experiences to establish a school and parent partnership.
