Terrier Champions & Scottie Most Valuable Players Mentoring Program

Kisa Humphrey Cahn Fellow 2020

The goal of the Terrier Champion and Scottie Most Valuable Player Mentoring Program is to build and sustain supportive relationships amongst at-risk students and school site personnel. The Scottie Most Valuable Player (mentee) will regulate replacement behaviors with the guidance and support of their assigned Terrier Champion (mentor) through reciprocal dialogue and ongoing progress monitoring. In addition to promoting academic achievement and behavioral growth amongst identified learners, the implementation of the mentoring program will empower staff and parents/guardians to possess a skill set of instituting strategies to mitigate problem behaviors demonstrated by at-risk learners. Dialogue of reflection from mentoring pairs within professional collaboration structures will serve as an impetus to generate personalized behavior/academic plans that will equip targeted students and their families to sustain lifelong productive practices.
