Transforming Our School Culture Through Candid and Clear Feedback and Communication

Doreen Esposito Cahn Fellow 2020

Our Cahn Project was to get clear about our shared purpose, values, and expectations of each other through candid and clear feedback. This kind of feedback is hard and takes courage. Being nice to our ‘family’ did not create the outcomes we wanted for improving instruction and impacting student growth. How can we give candid, honest feedback without breaking down relationships and hurting feelings but continue to move our school toward school-wide policies, systems, structures and planning in service of our students?
