Creating a System that Delivers Breakthrough Results and Develops Ivy League Caliber Students

Eric Blake Cahn Fellow 2019

Imagine a school capable of unleashing your child’s full potential setting them on course for the Ivy League. Welcome to STAR Early College, a 6th through 12th-grade school, founded on a bold approach and based on the theory of action that academic rigor, combined with the opportunity to save time and money, is a powerful motivator for students – generally those who are low-income youth, first-generation college goers, English language learners, students of color, and other young people underrepresented in higher education. Students who attend STAR work hard and meet serious intellectual challenges as they simultaneously earn a high school diploma and up to two years of transferable college credit from Brooklyn College, CUNY—tuition free. Many students enter STAR as early as eleven years old and will spend the next seven years in a welcoming and encouraging environment where we believe in the efficacy paradigm, which espouses that with effort and support all students can achieve at the highest level; and upon graduation our students will make a smooth and seamless transition to college.
