Putting it All Together for Student Success…..Data-Driven Protocols, PLC Frameworks and Teacher Mindset

Lynn Smith Cahn Fellow 2022

CityLab is a Project Based Campus which uses personalized instruction (blended, small group) to support student learning.  Teachers and students need to understand the data and own the data.  Teachers need to make sure they can support student learning in addressing student’s gaps and strengths.  Through PLCs, frameworks have been developed where teachers can provide a unique learning experience for our students by using the data to drive instruction.  We came up with four priorities to support our teachers:

  1. Vision/ Mission Work

  2. Data Driven Instructional Protocol

  3. PLC Frameworks

  4.  Classroom Observation and Feedback/Teacher Mindsets

These priorities came out of specific challenges we encountered. Through these priorities we were able to move the school from a C to a B based on the State of Texas Preliminary Data.  We also saw growth in our student survey data.  Students were more engaged in their classes and were more connected to school.
