Shifting Leadership Approach to Further Equity Work Within A School

Amy Gile Cahn Fellow 2019

Over the past 3 years Willow Elementary experienced a steady decline in our SPF equity indicator (77.20% to 55.79%) that demanded a shift in our equity based instructional practice. Willow leadership did not have the necessary developmental adult learning structures in place to support this type of adaptive shift in practice. There was a need to shift our adult learning structures to be more aligned with our staff’s developmental learning needs in order to support our staff through this essential and challenging shift in practice.
