Arcola Lake Elementary School was not making adequate learning gains in reading and mathematics. Based on our achievement levels, we decreased in all areas. Our school continues to struggle with academics and attendance issues. Our current race/ethnicity breakdown is 73% of the students are African American, 26% are Hispanic and 1.5% are white or other. Our school is a Title 1 school and over 95% of the students are on free or reduced lunch. The school is located in a high poverty and high crime area and we struggle to keep our students on a positive track with academic and attendance.
