CONTEMPORARY LEARNING ACADEMY DENVER PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Sandra Just Cahn Fellow 2019

We have an opportunity to interrupt historical patterns of inequities. We can ensure that students feel like validated confident young adults who are able to achieve any post -secondary step that they choose. If we do not learn from this process or we do not use our learning wisely, we will continue to perpetuate the cycle of low expectations, limited rigor, which will ultimately lead to limited access to post-secondary options even if a student so desired. In addition, it contributes to teachers who feel validated and empowered thus creating a scenario where they are more likely to want to continue working in a multiple pathway setting. Our work as leaders in growing connections with adults and ensuring that we are providing them with honest feedback in a manner that they are open to receiving will also improve our professional learning culture.
