Narrative Report Submission

Moisés Ortiz Cahn Fellow 2019

Our Cahn project established, supported and continues to sustain the Transformational Leadership model as it relates to classroom teachers working in high-poverty socio-economic urban core schools. As described more in-depth in the subsequent presentation – and after thorough discussion with the various stakeholders of the Lanier High School Community – there is a clear, viable and equitable process.

The resulting classroom teacher-focused model that was developed as a result of this project yielded an immediate increase in student-teacher relationships and student performance measures — such as student attendance, credit attainment, and state accountability measures. Simultaneously, it also resulted in the decrease of campus disciplinary infractions, campus failure rates and student drop-outs. In conjunction with the Transformational Leadership model, Lanier High School has increased and sustained positive and equitable change and continues the work through the framework’s seven factors of leadership.
